Medical Myths

Are these true or false?

1. Running fast after a meal will result to appendicitis.
2. Sleeping with wet hair will cause blindness
3. Circumcision increases a boy’s height

In this age of smart phones, internet and satellite TV, medical misconception and myths still abound and endure . Modern Filipinos may no longer believe in such a folklore but according to my brother-in-law who is a Physician , a large number still do, specially those living in the rural areas. He cited that many mothers and grandmothers blame fever among infants and children on teething and minor fall. He added that most erroneous medical beliefs can be traced back to coincidence and ignorance.
